Utilizing unused real estate and revitalizing an area with Art:

Chishima Real Estate Co., Ltd. has been working on regional creation and development activities. On October 4th, Chishima Real Estate Co., Ltd. has been working on regional creation and development activities. On October 4th, we won “Mécénat Grand Prize” which is given to a mécénat activities highly contributed to the promotion of Arts and Culture at Japan Mécénat Award 2011 held by Kigyo Mecenat Kyogikai (KMK: Association for Corporate Support of the Arts, Japan).
“Kitakagaya Creative Village Project” which Chishima has worked on since 2004 was awarded among 94 applications throughout Japan.
Japan Mécénat Award was founded by KMK in order to honor great mécénat activities by corporations and corporate foundations throughout Japan.
Among all applied activities, “Mécénat Grand Prize” is given to a mécénat activity which contributed the most to the promotion of Culture and Arts and “Mécénat Prizes” to other 5 mécénat activities, and “Award granted by the commissioner for Cultural Affairs” to one mécénat activity for local revitalization and development of the next generation.
This year, our project offering the former Namura Shipyard and Chishima’s lands and buildings in Kitakagaya to artists for their creative activities won “Mécénat Grand Prize”. “Regional Creation by Culture”, revitalizing an area by art where the industries are declining and community is aging, was evaluated.

Promoting artists moving in vacant properties
“Kitakagaya Creative Village Project” is an attempt to renaissance Kitakagaya as a creative base where arts and culture accumulate. Chishima aims for contribution to cultural enlightenment and local development through the project attracting artists and creators to Kitakagaya and transmission of information both domestically and internationally.
